Some Kinda Country Night!

Bletchfest presents Some Kinda Country Night

Get ready for a night of foot-stomping rhythms, rockin’ country and a whole lot of fun as Bletchfest welcomes Oakville Pete to Bletchingley Village Hall on Saturday 21st November 2026.

Describing their music as “Some Kinda Country”, Oakville Pete bring their own distinctive take on Americana, blending the sounds of country, rock ’n’ roll and rockabilly into a lively, energetic sound that’s guaranteed to get your toes tapping.

Based in the foothills of the South Downs, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pete Manville has been making music since the age of 13, when he picked up an acoustic guitar and taught himself to play.

His early musical influences included country legends such as Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, alongside rock ’n’ roll favourites including Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent and Billy Fury. By the age of 17, Pete was already writing his own songs, inspired by western movies and the music he loved.

What followed was a remarkable musical journey. From his first band, The Renegades, Pete went on to join Brighton-based The Crawdads, before becoming a founder member of The Oakville Tune Wranglers. Playing western bop, honky tonk and hillbilly music, the band built a strong following and spent several years recording and performing throughout the UK and Europe.

Pete later found a new audience on the country and line-dancing circuit with The Detours, before returning to his rockabilly and rock ’n’ roll roots. Along the way he has played some of the UK's leading clubs and festivals and worked with a succession of talented musicians.

Today, Oakville Pete brings all those influences and experiences together, revisiting some of his earlier songs, writing new material and, most importantly, having fun making music.

A sound all of their own

The current line-up features:

Oakville Pete – Pete Manville
Main vocals and double bass

Mark Lake
Lead guitar and backing vocals

Jesse Manville
Acoustic guitar and backing vocals

Together they create a sound that’s difficult to put neatly into one musical box – and that’s exactly the point. It’s country, but it’s also rock ’n’ roll and rockabilly. It’s rootsy, rhythmic and distinctly their own.

In other words… it’s Some Kinda Country!
