A packed night of comedy!

As tickets for our 3rd Annual April Comedy Night had sold out 4 weeks before the event we were assured of a full house ready to be entertained by our line up headlined by Hal Cruttenden. Hal is a familiar face on our TV screens with a number of appearances on shows such as Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and HIGNFY to his credit but the support line up was equally strong with Fiona Allen, who many will know from Smack the Pony. Fiona is also a successful actress appearing in dramatic roles in East Enders, Dalziel & Pascoe and Coronation Street. Ross McGrane compered the show with Jake Baker replacing the advertised Omar Badawy who was unable to perform on the night.

With Ross expertly setting the stage for each performer with his own laddish humour, drawing on his life as an Essex boy, he ensured each entrance was warmly greeted by an audience already laughing aloud and ready for more. They weren’t disappointed as Fiona Allen opened brilliantly with sharp observations about family life and the difficulties of parenthood. Jake Baker’s understated wit was hilariously funny and he delighted the audience with his laid back ‘nerdy’ style. Hal Cruttenden was at his imperious best extracting the humour from the travails of marital strife and private education while masterly interacting with the audience as the matrimonial allegiances of the front row came under particular scrutiny.

An appreciative crowd happily donated £200 in our collection boxes for Bletchingley Village School Garden and Stychens Lane Playground funds as they left after the show.

Each of our comedy nights has been a huge success growing in popularity each year and this, with extended capacity, was the biggest yet. To make sure you don’t miss out on future events here to register for early event notifications and updates.
